Behind the Scenes of My Studio – FUR, PAPERS and REST

I’ve been taking it as easy as I can this week as I’m trying to let my foot recover from whatever old injury re-appeared maybe two weeks ago or so now. Well, just say that’s when it swelled up and I had no choice but to stay off the foot. Let’s just say black ice is evil, and not the nice iksar kind of evil either.

IN THE STUDIO

As I was stuck mostly upstairs this past week, because of my foot, I decided to go work at my, not so organized that day, drafting table.

KABLAM!!!

The furry ninja Blazey gracefully, but not so lightly, pounced on to my drafting table with force. A mini earthquake ensued as the fluffy princess landed from her epic kitty jump. I felt a friendly kitty-tail to the face, as she walked around on the table to say hello. She then continued on her self-created ninja course as she leaped up to reach the top of the bookcase next to the drafting table.

I’ve had to kitty proof my studio best I can. Brushes still go flying sometimes as they pounce of different shelves in the studio. I’ve had to try my best to hide any kneaded erasers from the furry rogues. They will though, very stealthily in fact, open drawers to get to them.

If you’ve ever had a kneaded eraser, you may know that it is fairly easy to work graphite out of it. Kitty fur though? Not so much. There have been a few of the kneaded erasers here that have gone on to the trash bin.

I guess if you look at the shape it could kind of look like a mouse?

STUDIO NEWS

We were finally able to get me a laptop. It’s not been easy trying to avoid the stairs the past two weeks or so, but I did my best. Having a laptop in the studio will make it quite a bit easier for me to get my work done without having to go up and down the stairs to get things.

Tuxie also came to explore the studio. She was most interested in the laptop. At this point I was still moving things around, and I do have some more things on the black table now.

I’ve also gotten caught up on some art study that I needed to get done. I try to make sure that I work on improving my skills not just by creating new art.

Just a little hair study!

That being said I know I need to make new artwork and the plan is to try and get some concept sketches done here this week and the coming week.

Random Thoughts and Not so Random Thoughts

Typing up this blog post, I was reminded of the days in college when you had a paper due the same day but you’d forgotten to write it. Tallyho! Onward to the computer lab! I was organizing some papers and realized that today is Friday and I needed to get a blog post written.

Turns out we still need to get Photoshop properly set up on this computer, so for this blog post I had to use good old Paint (yep!) to edit any pictures.

As I’m finishing up the blog post, my little princess Blazey is reminding me that I probably should get up from the table I’m working at. Your screen-time is up, she says. She is sitting behind me looking at me, giving me that look where I had better listen to her.

There is still a bit of swelling by the ankle, and I hope it gets better soon. I miss going for walks with Cleo. Fortunately, hubby has been helping me with taking her for walks.

Enjoy your day!
