Some Notes on Instagram and Other Platforms

Social media can be a wonderful thing, and a not so wonderful thing. First, the platform is usually free, then when they think you are hooked, they start with promoted posts, more algorithms to decide who is popular enough to be shown in the list of things etc.

That's the nature of social media things I suppose.

Honestly, I'm a pretty sensitive person, and, in general, very empathetic to others. Giving #Zeroducks about what other people think (love that hashtag, thank you Marie Forleo) does not come easy to me by any means of the imagination. Over the years, I've learned to adapt some.

The plan (and as we know plans can change), is to post to Instagram maybe twice a week. I know. There is a ton of noise out there. I never cared for having to try and shout louder than everyone else, only for someone to maybe notice me.

I don't believe that just because you pay to have a post promoted, your links are worth going to. That being said, I know that platforms need to make money somehow, but we can choose to not promote posts unless it's really worth it for our business.

The blog however, is a little bit different. As much as my introvert self does not necessarily find it easy to post, it is at least my site, not a third party social media platform. The blog I try to post to more often. Plus, if you want to make sure you get the updates without having to go to the blog every day, you can just sign up for the newsletter.
